“What a great boost it was to receive our first award nomination.”

That was the comment from Mark Ralph, Richard Delooze and Derek Shannon who founded MRD Technologies after taking the leap from their corporate roles to create a business that gave SME’s (Small Medium Enterprises) and charities in the region a better quality of service along with the benefit of their existing skills.

Despite 18 months of various lockdowns and restrictions MRD have grown their business and now count Specsavers, Warrington Disability Partnership and M53 Ford as their clients, providing them with telephony and IT solutions and support.

They are now delighted to have been nominated for the CommsBusiness Awards which acknowledge and applaud those who build pioneering Technology Solutions, contribute to innovative projects, or nurture supportive workplaces.

Director Derek, 36, said to be included in the shortlist for the Best Reseller SME category against “some industry heavy hitters” in the Technology Solutions industry was a dream come true.

“It was a very proud moment to stand against some of the other businesses shortlisted after having been in the industry for over 14 years,” said Derek.

“I’ve worked in resellers in the past – that’s where I learnt my trade – and the CommsBusiness magazine used to come through once a month and I used to think, I will be in that some day.

“When I set up MRD with Mark and Richard I set my mind on the fact that we would be nominated for an award with them – and now we are! We are over the moon!”

The glittering awards ceremony will be held at the Hilton in Birmingham and hosted by comedian Tom Allen in September where the team will find out if they have won the coveted award.
